Learning about Borderline Personality Disorder: A one-day workshop for families and friends

Registrations are now being taken for our Carer Workshops which will be held several times throughout the year. Available dates for this workshop are 20/2; 19/4; 13/6; 16/8; and 20/9/2018.

This workshop is an opportunity to learn more about Borderline Personality Disorder and explore how to best support the person with BPD whilst also caring for yourself. The group will include a combination of education and practical approaches to learning new skills as well as provide a safe environment to meet with other carers.

We will cover topics such as:

  • Understanding more about BPD
  • Learning new ways to support your family member/friend with BPD
  • Developing and sustaining healthy relationships within the family and other social networks
  • Exploration of balance between caring for another and caring for yourself
  • Connecting with other carers, to be heard and to feel supported

All attendees will be invited to participate in a study to evaluate the effectiveness of the workshops. This will involve answering some questions about your knowledge of BPD and the impact of your caring role on your well-being. Further information about this will be sent to prior to the workshop. Research participation is entirely voluntary. However information gained will be used to assist Spectrum to develop workshops that cater for carer's needs.
