Supervision group
Spectrum supervision group 2010
Dates: Starting Monday 15th February, then fortnightly
Time: 3.30pm-4.45pm
Presenter: Jan Giffin
A Spectrum supervision group is again being offered in 2010. This initiative came about in recognition that there are a number of clinicians who work in public mental health services for whom a supervision group would be of interest and value. These are clinicians who have demonstrated a particular interest in therapeutic approaches with clients who have Borderline Personality Disorder. In particular they are interested in developing their understanding and skill in the context of work in a therapeutic relationship. These clinicians are from a range of disciplines and are often looked to within their teams for leadership in relation to this client group, informally and/or formally.
The supervision group aims to promote further understanding of psychotherapeutic approaches. The group also aims to promote sharing of knowledge from the group with others, including supervisees. Reading and discussion will relate to both psychotherapy and supervision including: assessment, formulation, treatment and the dynamics of the therapeutic relationship. The sessions are one and a half hours long and comprise discussion of a paper followed by a case presentation. It is hoped that participants will be from a range of area mental health services and disciplines. The group will be a closed group.
There will be a maximum of eight participants.
Venue: Elgin Street, Carlton
Cost: $160 for clinicians from Victorian Area Mental Health Services
Enquiries and registration: If you would like to join the group or discuss this further, please contact Jan Giffin via Spectrum reception on ph 9871 3900.
