Individual Treatment in the Community

Spectrum provides individual community based treatment for people with borderline personality disorder and other severe personality disorders. Individual treatment is designed to complement case management and exisiting treatments from Victorian State Government funded Specialist Mental Health Services (AMHS, CAMHS or other state-wide clinical services).

Wherever possible Spectrum clinicians travel to see clients in their local area although other arrangements are made from time to time.

Spectrum Individual Treatment may suit people with personality disorder who:
  • experience relationship problems
  • frequently feel upset and angry
  • act impulsively or make bad decisions when under stress
  • struggle to give up self-harm or other forms of self-destructiveness
  • sometimes feel empty or unsure of who they are
  • sometimes feel they don’t have a life worth living
  • are open to learning new ways of coping
  • can tolerate individual therapy enough to participate safely
