Treatment Groups in the Community
Spectrum uses the best of peer reviewed and evidence based models in developing group treatments for people with personality disorder. Spectrum group treatments are therefore diverse, drawing on a broad range of theoretical perspectives. Treatment is regularly evaluated.
in 2009 Spectrum launches a range of community based groups built on group treatments successfully tested in both our residential treatment program and community settings.
Depending on demand, groups operate each week during school terms in the east and west of Melbourne's metropolitan region.
East groups are run in East Ringwood.
West groups are run in Footscray.
In association with Area Mental Health Services, Spectrum will also offer treatment groups in other locations in Victoria.
Spectrum Group Treatment may suit people with personality disorder who:
- experience relationship problems
- frequently feel upset and angry
- act impulsively or make bad decisions when under stress
- struggle to give up self-harm or other forms of self-destructiveness
- sometimes feel empty or unsure of who they are
- sometimes feel they don’t have a life worth living
- are open to learning new ways of coping
- can tolerate individual therapy enough to participate safely
