Over the past year, Spectrum’s Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) team has developed and implemented a new 6-month MBT intervention, which is based on their existing 18-month program.
As the first program of its kind in Australia and one of only two brief MBT programs worldwide, Mentalizing Minds Together exists at the forefront of research and innovation in this therapeutic model. With the first cohort of Mentalizing Minds Together participants completing their treatment, evaluations have shown promising results.
As additional cohorts complete their treatment, we will continue to evaluate the program’s efficacy for individuals with mild-to-moderate BPD. If successful, this intervention holds great potential to be rolled out across more generalised mental health services to meet the needs of many people who cannot afford private psychotherapy or gain access to specialist public services.
