BPD and Autism

It’s becoming more common for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD) to be diagnosed together.

It’s becoming more common for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and BPD to be diagnosed together, especially in women. 

While they’re different conditions, there is some overlap in relation to identity, emotional and social challenges. However, people living with BPD tend to have strong feelings and fears of rejection; while people with ASD usually have challenges with communication, social connection, and sensory sensitivities.

Because of their similarities, misdiagnosis can happen. That’s why it’s so important to look at the full picture and make sure both conditions are properly understood and treated.
