Eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating are also common in people with BPD.

Eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating are also common in people with BPD. These behaviours often develop as ways to cope with difficult emotions or gain a sense of control.

Emotional intensity and impulsiveness are common features of BPD which may lead to unhealthy eating patterns, such as overeating, purging, or severe restriction. Unless someone is severely anorexic, helping someone with both BPD and an eating disorder means treating both at the same time, with a focus on building emotional skills, self-esteem, and a healthier relationship with food and the body.
