New artwork to be displayed at Richmond

Spectrum is incredibly grateful to have received generous funding from the Eastern Health Foundation for the purchase of artwork to be displayed in our foyer. This support is making a meaningful impact on how we welcome and care for everyone who walks through our doors.

Today, our staff had the wonderful opportunity to visit The Torch to review the artwork selections in person. Together, we explored various pieces to determine which would best suit our spaces—ensuring that the final choices not only would bring calm and comfort but also reflect the diverse cultures of the patients and families we see.

The artworks chosen were carefully selected for their ability to create a calming and inclusive environment. We understand that the first impressions of a healthcare setting can significantly influence how patients and visitors feel. By introducing artwork that reflects tranquility and cultural diversity, we aim to provide a space that helps reduce stress, promotes healing, and fosters a sense of connection. Through this project, we hope to offer comfort and a welcoming atmosphere to all who enter.

The Torch’s Statewide Indigenous Arts in Prisons and Community Program is set within the context of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement and its focus is on the role of culture and cultural identity in the rehabilitative process of First Nations people impacted by incarceration. The Torch employs Indigenous Arts Officers to deliver the program to Indigenous men and women in Victorian prisons and to support participants who are transitioning back into the community.
