Person on stage

On Friday 27 March, we hosted our Spectrum Annual Conference 2026, bringing together almost 250 participants from across Australia and overseas for a full day exploring From Risk to Recovery: Working with persistent suicidality in BPD and/or complex trauma. The program featured an exceptional lineup of keynote speakers, clinical leaders, researchers, and lived experience advocates. Their insights into suicide prevention, trauma‑informed care, and system reform sparked meaningful conversations and reinforced the importance of collaborative, evidence‑based approaches. We extend our sincere thanks to all presenters, panellists, and lived experience contributors for sharing their expertise and perspectives. A special acknowledgement also goes to the Spectrum team whose hard work ensured the day ran seamlessly.

As we said in closing, “It has been very enlightening and inspiring…

Building Momentum for Change"

The energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to improving outcomes for people living with BPD and complex trauma. Throughout the day, participants engaged deeply with emerging research, innovative clinical practices, and the lived realities of those navigating persistent suicidality.

Discussions highlighted:

  • the need for integrated, person‑centred care
  • the value of co‑production with people who have lived experience
  • the importance of strengthening systems to better support clinicians and consumers
  • the ongoing work required to translate knowledge into sustainable, compassionate practice

Looking Ahead

Events like this remind us that progress happens when diverse voices come together with curiosity, humility, and purpose. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making the conference such a meaningful gathering. We look forward to continuing this vital work together, deepening our understanding, strengthening our services, and supporting recovery‑oriented care across the sector.
