Three year capacity building milestone
After three years of intensive collaboration, the dedicated BPD training program in the Mildura region has now reached almost universal coverage — with the vast majority of staff across the Victorian Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services having participated. We thank everyone who has participated and been part of this collaboration.
This initiative now continues to strengthen clinical practices and professional expertise.
A Growing Partnership
Spectrum now participates regularly in monthly complex care panels, solidifying its strategic role within collaborative care teams.
The sustained partnership within the Mildura region is also jointly overseeing an evaluation to gauge how well the training translates into day‑to‑day clinical practice.
Measuring real-world impact
Spectrum is currently undertaking an evaluation of the project. This includes a service-wide qualitative survey, and two clinician focus groups—capturing perspectives from acute and community settings.
These activities aim to identify both the benefits of the training and barriers that may be limiting its full potential. As we look to the future, we are eager to continue to evolve and enhance our services.
Latest Training well received
The most recent workshop cohort included a broad mix—from seasoned clinicians to new graduates—and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Attendees praised the relevance and applicability of the material to varied levels of experience.
For organisations interested in commissioning a similar program, enquiries are welcome. The collaboration model includes structured workshops, expert supervision by Spectrum staff, and clinician communities of practice. Trainers receive mentorship to deliver content independently, embedding skills locally for long‑term impact.
