This increase underscores Spectrum’s commitment to delivering high-quality training initiatives that will increase understanding and improve treatment outcomes of people with personality disorder and complex trauma.

Expert trainers

Spectrum’s training achievements owe much to its exceptional trainers, including Andy Bouwman, Rita Brown, Katrina Bull, Dr Lukas Cheney, Deborah Dick, Dr Fiona Donald, Jacinta Emery, Zoe Gibbs, Lilli Haig-Wood, Renee Harrison, Kat Kahler, Andrew Mottram, Dr Mithira Nithianandan, Dr Julian Nesci, Cathryn Pilcher, Dr Alex Potter, Associate Professor Sathya Rao, Dr Samantha Tabak, Joanne Veltkamp, Sarah Wallace and Marianne Weddell.

Our trainers come from diverse backgrounds encompassing nursing, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy and social work.

The trainers’ expertise in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) and Complex Care enriches their teachings with the latest clinical insights, creating an invaluable bridge between theory and practice.

A holistic approach to training is further embodied by our carer and lived-experience consultants, who share their personal journeys, infusing authenticity and empathy into the learning process.

The trainers share a passion for advancing mental health and contributing to the lives of those facing complex challenges. This dedication and expertise has been pivotal in Spectrum’s ongoing training journey.

Behind-the-scenes support

While the spotlight often shines on the front-facing aspects of training, it is essential to acknowledge the quiet heroes working behind the scenes.

The commitment of the project officers, Olivia Smith and Eve Newton- Keogh, guided by the astute leadership of Head of Workforce Development, Dimitra Petroulias, laid the groundwork for seamless training delivery.

Their meticulous planning, including registrations, venue logistics, trainer and participant support and evaluation facilitation has ensured that Spectrum’s training initiatives operate flawlessly.

Dimitra Petroulias, with her extensive experience in education and training spanning over two decades, has a pivotal role in Spectrum’s training strategic direction, which includes a strong commitment to continuous improvement through a comprehensive evaluation program.

Success in training

Every individual involved, from trainers to project officers and leadership, has driven Spectrum’s success in training. As Spectrum continues to progress, its trainers remain integral to shaping personality disorder and complex trauma, instilling hope and understanding with each training activity.
