BPD Diagnosis in Older Adults
Researchers from six major hospitals have developed a screening tool, the Spectrum Screening Tool for BPD (BPDOA), that reflects the changing symptoms of BPD over the lifetime. This research projects examines the usefulness of the tool. If it is found to be sensitive and reliable, it will be available in the future to identify patients who need further assessment, support and treatment.
Psychedelics as an Adjunct to Psychotherapy
Trauma disorders such as PTSD are often experienced by people diagnosed with BPD. There is good evidence that giving MDMA alongside psychological treatment (talking therapy) helps to reduce the symptoms of PTSD. In this study, we are testing this treatment by comparing how well psychotherapy works for treating the symptoms of PTSD and BPD, with and without using MDMA treatment.
Ongoing Evaluation of Spectrum’s Treatment Programs
Spectrum’s mission is to work with people with personality disorder and/or complex trauma in a way that promotes wellbeing and leads towards recovery. The Spectrum Client Care Program (SCCP) will help us to know whether we are providing the best possible care to our clients, how clients' symptoms may have changed, and what we might need to change to improve our treatment.

The overall objective of this study is to understand whether sleep quality and nightmare distress experienced by people with BPD impacts daily functioning and BPD symptom expression. We expect that the findings of this study will provide a stronger rationale to improve treatment options for people who are seeking help for their BPD and have sleep-related concerns.
