We know that navigating personality disorder or complex trauma can be confusing and overwhelming. Our research aims to understand people’s real experiences, what helps, what gets in the way, and what recovery looks like from your perspective.

At the Spectrum Research Centre, we:

  • listen and study people’s experiences of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery
  • study what makes care helpful, safe, and compassionate
  • work with communities to improve services, so they meet people’s needs
  • look for ways to reduce stigma and improve experiences in hospitals and clinics

You can choose to get involved by sharing your experiences, participating in studies, or staying informed about what we’re learning. Your voice and contribution can help improve care for others.

Why Our Research Matters

People with personality disorders and complex trauma often face misunderstanding, stigma, and barriers to care. Research helps us:

  • highlight what recovery can look like
  • identify effective treatments
  • improve hospital and community responses
  • design services that are safe, inclusive, and trauma‑informed
