Australian Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) Institute

Spectrum has formally launched the Australian MBT Institute.

Tue, Jan 07

Launch of the Australian MBT Institute to engage with a wide audience of professionals, share vision and stimulate meaningful dialogue.

Spectrum highlights to others our dedication to integrating cutting-edge research, innovative techniques, and comprehensive training programs with the launch of the MBT Institute.

The Institute is a beacon of progress to build workforce capacity. There has been swift national and international interest, leading to research partnerships with universities, working with stakeholders, and establishing a research agenda for the years ahead.

Institute staff have spoken on MBT-specific topics at both national and international conferences and events in the last year. There has also been immense interest in the sold-out accredited MBT Basic training now being offered.

Extending this, the Institute has been providing MBT supervision to local and interstate mental health services, supporting their capacity to deliver this evidence-based intervention.

Clinically, there are a range of treatment options offered, including an innovative, brief form of MBT (6 months), and standard MBT (18 months).

The Institute’s qualitative research project has begun interviewing people who have participated in the treatment so that their experience can be better understood and so the Institute can contribute to a global effort to continue to provide the best-quality care.
